Q What Is Inside Your Books?
Our songbooks all come with a detailed, age-appropriate script written to add real depth and substance to your production. They include character descriptions of every part, line counts, stage directions, staging ideas and full song lyrics. Both Tom and Clare are working teachers with a wealth of experience in both upper and lower schools and for each book they create additional supplementary material designed to help you to extend your production in to the classroom with plenty of creative curriculum-linked ideas. As you would expect, our songbooks also include sheet music for every song arranged for piano, vocal and guitar.
Q What Type Of Music Score Is Provided?
Our sheet music is arranged for piano, vocal and guitar. It includes the piano arrangement, melodic top-line, vocal harmony-lines and guitar chords.
Q In What Format Are Your Books Supplied?
All of our books are supplied in an A4 format. The larger books are ‘thread sealed’ for added durability.
Q What Is On One Of Your CDs?
We believe that both specialists and non-specialists should be able to ‘take on the school musical’. All of our books come with an accompanying CD that contains professional recordings of all of our songs sung by children. Every CD also includes full, professionally recorded backing tracks for you to use if you don’t have a musician to accompany your rehearsals or performances.
Q What Is Special About Your Musicals?
First and foremost, we think long and hard about the stories – which ones to choose, what makes them relevant and interesting, and what the performers will enjoy about putting them on.
Everyone gets involved in the creative process. Once we have agreed upon a title that we would like to develop, Tom immerses himself in the script and Matt works to create a set of new songs that will support the narrative in the story.
After we have wrestled with our early ideas, we always have a read through evening with friends and family. We share out the parts, listen to the songs and have a run through. Right from the start we are honing and revising what we produce so that when you choose to commit to a musical from The School Musicals Company, you know that we have done the job of checking that it’s really going to work for you. When we create the recordings, we constantly adjust the keys to make sure that the songs are right for young voices. We try to make the lyrics catchy and memorable whilst ensuring they add to the story-telling process.
We love what we do. We put everything into creating a show that can be sent out into the world to help make memories in schools and drama clubs. Our shows are made with love and enthusiasm for the creative arts; we hope that you enjoy performing them as much as we enjoy making them.
Q Do I Really Need A Performance Licence?
If you are performing any work involving drama, movement or spoken dialogue then a performance licence is required by law. Our performance licences are very straightforward; pay one flat fee and you are permitted to put on as many performances as you like during a twelve-month period. Performance licences are required worldwide and not just in the UK.
If you are using our music for classroom teaching or for school assemblies where members of the public are not present, you do not need to obtain a licence from us. Please note that schools should log the use of our songs for assemblies as required by their CCLI licences.

Yes. We are happy to ship worldwide.
Q Is VAT Currently Charged On Your Resources?

Q How Flexible Are The Age Guidelines On Your Resources?
We write very specifically for upper KS2 and KS3 and our current range of musicals are tailored to work for children within that 9 – 13 age range. Paws & Claws and Pantastic will still work for older age groups, but lower KS2 might struggle with the amount of lines they would need to learn from our scripts. Doctor Dolittle will work for 8 year olds.
Feel free to contact us to talk through your particular needs.
